Programming Guidelines
In determining whether we can assist independent projects, Performing Lines WA will consider the potential benefits and opportunities of the project:
Context... the audience to which a production may be directed, both nationally and internationally;
Touring Potential... the geographic areas it could tour;
Audience Development... the particular form of the work and the opportunity to encourage a wider appreciation of innovative developments;
Longevity... the ways presentation can extend the life and recognition of the work;
Impact... the potential of the production to contribute to the development of Australian theatre practice.
Selection of works is also determined by the extent to which a number of other criteria are met:
Innovation... the degree of innovation, how far the production progresses form, ideas and style;
Uniqueness... original qualities of the work - its spirit or emotional appeal;
Standard... the anticipated level of excellence and professionalism of the production;
Legacy... the ongoing benefit to the artist, the group or the company and the extent to which the involvement by Performing Lines WA will potentially encourage continuity or foster greater creativity;
Benefit... the direct benefit to the audiences and venues through staging particular forms or styles of work.
