Buru
Stories inspired by the six Yawuru Seasons
Marrugeku, WA's leader in contemporary intercultural performance, will premiere its exciting new physical performance work Buru in Broome on the 6 of October.
Devised and performed by a talented group of young people from Broome, with the guidance of community elders and Marrugeku's professional performers, Buru is an enchanting new performance work for children and families. Buru (dirt-land-earth; time-seasons-place) is a story which explores how Broome's young people experience place, time and culture, in a story structure inspired by the six Yawuru seasons.
Deftly combining contemporary dance, hip-hop, stilt dance and storytelling with original songs and music by the Marrugeku Mongrel Band, Buru is a rich reflection of life for young people in Broome.
